You can easily throw together a homemade version of an electrolyte drink in no time. Not only will you leave out the unhealthy and unwanted ingredients, but you’ll save some money, too, with these DIY electrolyte drinks.

DIY Lemon-Aid

When water just won’t hit the spot, mix up a batch of this tangy DIY electrolyte drink for a quick hit of carbohydrates, sodium, and potassium. Pour a cup or two into a to-go jar or bottle to sip while you sweat.

Ingredients

2 cups filtered water
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/8 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup lemon juice

Directions

Place the filtered water, maple syrup, and salt in a pitcher and stir well. Mix in the remaining ingredients and stir again. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator to enjoy for a delicious electrolyte replacement drink after a workout.

Citrus-Aid
Try squeezing in the juice of an organ or grapefruit to the Lemon-Aid for some additional Vitamin C or potassium.

Coco Refresher
Take your DIY electrolyte drinks to the next level by adding in six Coconut Ice Cubes per serving. Double up on the minerals slushy-style by throwing the mix into the blender.

Coconut Ice Cubes
Drop a few of these flavorful and hydrating ice cubes into your smoothies whenever you could use an extra dose of electrolytes.

Fill an ice cube tray with unsweetened coconut water to about three-quarters full. Trays vary in capacity, so you may get slightly more or fewer cubes depending on your tray. Put in the freezer for a at least four hours before using.

DIY Chia Lemon-Aid
Because chia seeds hold up to ten times their weight in water, they add extra hydrating properties. Add 1 tsp of chia seeds per serving to the DIY Lemon Aid. Let the mixture thicken for about 10 minutes, continuing to stir several times. Add the juices and maple syrup and mix well.

DIY Spa Water Ideas

Grapefruit and Fresh Mint
Raspberry and Lime
Strawberry, Lemon, and Fresh Basil
Cucumber, Lemon, and Ginger
Kiwi, Lemon, and Blueberry
Mixed Citrus Slices
Watermelon, Lime, and fresh Mint
