Yoga Studio Opening: Sweat Yoga in Santa Monica
Sweat Yoga is the newest vinyasa-based hot yoga studio to open on the West Side. The studio is a reflection of the numerous hours owner Tommy Schey has spent in a yoga studio over the past 20 plus years. He worked closely with Johnny Kest to create fun, contemporary (and of course sweaty) class sequences which are supported by carefully curated music playlists in a beautifully designed, modern space.
Sweat features a state-of-the art heating system, allowing the heat, which hovers around 95 degrees, to be adjusted; different class options feature different temperature settings. To create a warm yet healthy environment, warm oxygenated air continually circulates, while higher levels of carbon dioxide are removed, and the room is humidified or dehumidified throughout class.
Schey is committed to running a sustainable business: he installed reclaimed wood flooring and fixtures, energy-efficient heating and cooling, waterless urinals, water-saving fixtures, and LED lighting. He also offsets wear’s carbon footprint through a financially contribution to TerraPass, a Carbon Offset company. The spa-like locker rooms feature Mexican stone showers that provide a soothing foot massage; and the studio’s carefully selected personal care items are organic, formulated with botanicals, GMO-, and sulfate-free, and are manufactured using wind energy.
Pre-register online to save a space (walk-ins are welcome). For added convenience, the studio offers the option of washing and storing mats, and the retail boutique sells Clover juices.
