Letting Go Helps You Clear Your Energy

Letting go is gaining popularity and I LOVE to see it getting air time on reality TV shows lately. However, just because it’s on TV, doesn’t mean it’s being shown how to do correctly. Letting go has to be done in the right way, otherwise it does nothing or causes more harm than good.

Letting Go is a PROCESS

I wrote about letting go and how to clear your energy in my first book and the chapter is exactly 40 pages. It can be simple and it can be complicated. This all depends on you and if you’re really letting go or just going through the motions.

In a reality show my kids were just watching, the women on the show unwillingly and eventually told their past relationship trauma, took a breath, wrote down some intense words on a piece of paper with a marker, balled it up, put it into a fire and took another breath.

That was IT!

That isn’t going to get to the root of the energy, patterns, beliefs or fears. It probably didn’t even scratch the surface for any of the woman there. That’s not going to clear their energy. If anything, it brought it to the surface and now they don’t know what to do with it except keep thinking about it.

3 Steps to Let Go and Free Your Energy

1. Create a SAFE space.

You have to feel safe to actually let go and NOT bring in more negative energy. You can do this by bringing in White Light from top of your head, through your body, into your feet and into the Earth.

2. Let Go.

I mean “Let it Go” so you free your energy, clear your energy, and stop letting it have control over you. You do this by pulling the energy you are holding in specific areas of your body OUT of you like smoke or weeds and let it disappear into God, Universe, Source, the sky, whatever you want to call it.

You may see a block in your energy when you bring the White Light in or you may feel tension in your body in a specific area like your chest, stomach, back of your neck, hips, or shoulder blades. Let go of the stress or tension you’re feeling in your body, past hurts, anything that makes you angry or that triggers you or makes you upset.

Let the energy go and be free.

Don’t hold onto any of it or it’ll end up coming back.

Imagine it disappearing. You can imagine it breaking up into pieces and disappearing into the light in the sky.

Whatever works for you is fine as long as you are letting it go and you feel the energy physically or energetically leaving you.

3. Refill your energy with POSITIVE energy.

Otherwise, your energetic pattern is to keep finding and putting the same energy you just let go of into that space.

Do NOT skip this step in clearing your energy.

Imagine a soft pastel color filling the space and an “I AM” statement that supports you. For example, imagine a soft pink light coming from behind your chest filling every cell all the way forward. Repeat the some of the following affirmations and/or write your own: I am love. I am safe. I am supported.

Yes, I know you want to know what the pastel colors mean. You can know, but let your intuition guide you on what color is best for you right now, not what color your mind says you need to use.

Pastel color meanings to help you reprogram your energy.

Pink: Love, pamper, and support for that area.

Blue: Peace, calm, neutralizes your energy in that area.

Green: Nurturing, abundance.

Orange: Support after an intense emotional release.

Yellow: Rejuvenates you, raises your energy level when you are tired or low energy

Purple: Supports your energy at a spiritual level.

Keep your “I am” statements to 3 words.

I am ____.

Possible words to use that support you: free, supported, whole, worthy, enough, love, light, peace, calm, free. (Notice I intentionally put “free” in here twice. This is a good one to use!)

Places to Let Go

Anywhere you feel safe and supported.

You can go outside. (This is best during the day so you are in the light. In the light we see more light and in the darkness we see more darkness and often pick up more darkness energetically.)

You can go for a walk or exercise.

Visit water (lakes, streams, rivers, reservoirs, or the ocean).

Nature is very helpful in letting go.

You often want to be alone so you’re not picking up on anyone and their energy.

Notice I didn’t mention journaling or art. If you create something, you have to destroy it as part of the final letting go otherwise it will hold the energy wherever you put it. You’ll also have to do more letting go until you dispose of it to the final place you can take it – like your outside trash can at the street.

Letting Go is a Process

Like I said, letting go and clearing your energy are ongoing processes. I spend a lot of my time and energy in session with my clients helping them clear their energy.

You are here to heal and become whole, so don’t be surprised when you think you’ve let it all go and something else appears. If you’re here, you’re healing. Often the hardest part is knowing what it is time for you to let go of and to release.

Start with the things that are the easiest for you to clear.

Things that you know you’re still holding onto or that are still bothering you. As you become more skilled, you may start to heal things from past life experiences. As my husband says, letting go is like an onion and some layers make you cry more than others. Crying is good too if it helps you let go.

Happy clearing and be free!

Happy Together for 25 Years: 4 Tips for Relationship Success

It is possible for you to have a happy relationship that lasts for 25 years — or more. My husband and I started dated 25 years ago this year. 25 years together is a big number – a lot of couples don’t make it that long, at least not happily.

I have worked with thousands of women in my career and most of them are not happy in their relationships. Some couples will stay until the kids leave the house or until they feel financially secure enough to separate. A lot of my friends are divorced. Some are figuring out the new dating thing and some are already on their second marriage.

My husband and I are familiar with divorce. I am my husband’s second wife. Both of our parents are divorced. I have worked with many women as they were going through their divorces to help them recreate a life they love and this usually includes a new partner.

If you want to create the life you love with a partner who you love for the long-term, try these relationship success secrets.

4 Relationship Success Secrets

1. Have a REAL Connection with Each Other

It isn’t about the looks, the job, the money. These things can fade and change. The connection has to be strong. If it isn’t, then the grass is greener somewhere else when life gets hard – and life does get hard. It isn’t all roses and rainbows so you want to have someone with you that you really want to be with no matter what curve ball is thrown your way.

The connection has to be mutual. A lot of movies talk about “knowing” when you meet your person, your “soul mate” and “the one”. I keep hearing everyone say on reality dating shows like the Bachelor, “I feel sparks with you.” There can only be one true spark so on these shows multiple people are not going to have a true spark for one person.

Let’s clarify what this is energetically.

When I met my husband, I knew he was my person the moment I looked in his eyes. I knew. But knowing isn’t enough. My next reaction was fear, scared, I’m so young, I don’t know if I’m ready for this and I don’t know what to do with this. Feeling the sparks with someone is exciting and then scary. I honestly spent the first two months of knowing my husband running away from him and then feeling magnetically pulled back to him again.

The knowing connection makes you show up in a way you’ve never showed up with another partner.

You have to do the inner work on yourself to truly be present in that relationship.

I’ve watched women meet “their” person and sabotage it. Run away from “their” person. Go back to a man that treated them horribly because they felt safter and less exposed (and now they are separated from that man again.)

Not everyone wants a relationship with the unmistakable “knowing” connection. People have been making those relationships work for centuries. While my husband and I do have the sparks and I talk about it in my relationship book, you absolutely can make a relationship work without it. But to go the distance, you have to have a real connection with your person. It has to be someone you want to be with in good times and in bad…there’s a reason that’s in the wedding vows.

2. Don’t Ever Go to Bed MAD

Seriously, DO NOT do it.

Notice that when you have gone to bed mad that you wake up to a whole different beast the next morning?

You’re not only mad about the original event, but ALL the other “wrongs” that come to your mind since the beginning of your relationship.

What happens energetically is that in the darkness of the night – in the absence of light – your anger grows. Anger is a lower vibrational energy. Combining anger with darkness at night is the perfect storm to wake up to a beast that will really confuse your partner and make you feel worse about literally everything little thing from the beginning.

If it bothers you, deal with it before you go to bed and find a compromise. If I am upset about something, I tell my husband. We talk about it and we come to an agreement that is always a compromise because that’s what you do in relationships, you compromise. I won’t go to bed mad and he knows it. I also won’t let him go to bed mad.

If there is NO way for you to talk to the other person before you can go to bed, you have to make peace with it on your own and come up with your solution to the problem. Then present the problem and solution to them as soon as you can so you can find your compromise together. There is no reason or benefit to ever going to bed mad.

3. Be Crystal CLEAR in Your Communication

The majority of the population cannot read minds. They can’t even take hints.

If you want something to happen or to be a certain way, you need to tell your partner and give as many details and specifications as you possibly can.

“I like it when you do this, thank you.” “Can you please help me with this?” “It bothers me when you do that. Please don’t do it.”

Energetically, the clearer you are, the less drama, miscommunications and fights you’ll have. I remember getting mad at my husband for not doing things I wanted him to help with when we started dating. It was such a waste of energy because he didn’t even know I wanted help because I didn’t ask him. I just got mad and became a crazy woman in his eyes. Then I’d have to let go, calm down and apologize. Now we communicate. I can’t get mad if I didn’t communicate it to him, he is not a mind reader.

Here’s a classic example of what you’re doing with your energy in your relationships when you aren’t clear at all in your communication.

You want a gift but instead you say, “I don’t want a gift.”

Then you’re upset and angry because they’re supposed to “know” you better and get you a gift.

In this example not only are you NOT going to get a gift, you are going to probably get in a big fight. If you want something from your partner, ask for it.

Tell them.

Send them the exact link to what you want.

The more clear you are in your communication, the less misunderstanding and fights you’ll have.

Happy couples have strong, clear and open communication with each other.

4. Put EFFORT into Your Relationship

When you start a relationship with someone, it’s new and exciting to learn about them and do new things together. Then you move into the next stage – you’re comfortable together and know everything about each other. You get into routines and get lazy when it comes to putting energy into your relationships.

Remember this – you put energy and time into things that are important to you.

Your partner will feel neglected when you stop putting energy into your relationship. Then they talk to their friends and it’ll be out of control in no time.

Don’t just assume they’ll always be there or take them for granted.

Especially if you don’t have a “knowing” connection, this is where the grass will get green when other people they work with or meet will give them attention they’re wanting and not getting. Schedule a date night, go for walks together, meet for lunch, hold hands and make time for intimacy.

Think of your relationship like a plant, you have to water it, fertilize it and give it sunlight so it keeps growing.

It’s a relationship game changer to be happy. Which of these tips would really help your relationship right now? One of my friends just told me that we are the only happily married couple she knows. These tips have helped my husband and I reach 25 years happily together this year. I’m a big believer in living a life I love. That means no drama, mutual respect and lots of love.

Use these Relationship Success Strategies

February is the month of love and I hope you’re able to put some of these tips into practice to create your happily ever after with your partner.

You Know You Want to Meditate…..Now You Want to Know How to Meditate

One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions is to learn HOW to meditate and to do it every day. You’ve heard it’s good for you and you want to feel more calm, connected, and balanced.

Why Meditate?

The common reasons I’ve personally heard for this resolution including the following.

Meditation has been recommended by your doctor.

You’ve been told to meditate to reduce your stress from work or family.

You haven’t been able to meditate so it’s now a goal.

Other people who meditate swear by how helpful it is.

You want to slow down and you’ve heard meditating will help you do that.

I spent years working at five star spas leading meditation classes (some immediately coming after a meditation retreat). These classes were always the most full throughout the month of January. Every single person struggled meditating on their own. They all had apps they listened to but even those weren’t helpful every day.

But they did find the meditation I’m going to share with you here to be very powerful.

There are billions of meditations out there. What I have found to be the most helpful and easy to do is what I call a Guided, Energy Healing Meditation. Why is this so helpful? It addresses the two areas everyone struggles with: the body relaxing and the mind wanting to think and not be quiet during your meditation. This meditation also is customized to you in that moment, so it’ll also be exactly what you need.

You know meditation is good for you. But why is it so hard for you to meditate?

This is a really important question to ask yourself. The follow up question is: Do you have a hard time relaxing? If you do, this is where you want to focus. There is no way you’ll be able to sit down and meditate for two minutes if you already struggle with relaxing.

How to Meditate

Step one in how to meditate is being comfortable sitting down and relaxing. You may have to let go of any resistance you have in giving yourself permission to sit down and take care of you. You don’t have to always be busy, hustling, going from one thing to the next. This mentality actually hurts you when you do sit down to meditate because your thoughts are, “I need to do ____.” Or, “I can’t sit here in the middle of the day and do nothing.”

Release whatever thoughts you have about sitting, relaxing and taking care of you that keep you from being in the moment without action. Decondition what you were taught as a child. Your body needs you to relax. It isn’t a machine, stop treating it like one.

Meditation is your body’s daily tune up.

1. You have to acknowledge your body’s messages in meditation.

You are busy and on the go. This means your body is used to doing something. The moment you sit down at the end of the day to watch TV or read a book, you may notice a pain, a cramp, or tension in your body. You didn’t notice it when you were busy, honestly you were ignoring it. But the moment you sit down to relax, you’re feeling it. You will also experience this when you go to meditate.

It’s hard to go within and focus when you feel a physical ailment. This doesn’t mean you can’t meditate because you’re focused on this message from your body. It does mean you have to recognize it otherwise it becomes a distraction when you do try to meditate. Or more accurately, you’ll spend the whole time focusing on a part of your body that is bothering you, which isn’t meditating. I like to address your body first when you start your meditation.

Try this technique to acknowledge your body in meditation.

Sit somewhere that is COMFORTABLE for you.

Choose a place where you don’t have any distractions.

Set your timer for five minutes. (You’re going to start out slow and add time slowly, that way you’ll stick with this practice.)

Do not cross your legs or arms so you don’t feel any cramps, another common distraction.

Sit relaxed and comfortable for you! You may event want to have your feet touch the floor.

Begin your meditation by bringing a soft, White Light in. (Just like you see when the light breaks through the clouds on a cloudy day or when you see a beam of light coming through the trees).

Imagine this White Light coming in from the top of your head, and let it gently and easily go through your whole body, down to your feet and into the Earth.

Say, “I am peace. I am calm. I am free.”

Notice where you feel tension in your body or any pain. You are going to start here.

Your body will not relax in meditation until you clear this stress, tension or negative energy out.

Let go of the stress or tension. Let go of any negativity that you stored in your body to deal with later.

Imagine pulling it out of your body like smoke, leaves or wind and let it disappear into the sky.

Let it go until it feels lighter or gone.

Then imagine a soft, pastel color like pink, blue, green or orange.

It’s going to come from behind that space and fill every cell in your body with a positive feeling all the way to the front and out of your body.

Then say, “I am free. I am supported.”

Continue this until you feel no tension or stress in your body anywhere. If you have a hard time bringing the White Light in anywhere, let go in that area as well and repeat the paragraph above. Once your body feels balanced and has stopped giving you pain messages, you are ready to quiet your mind before it starts taking over.

2. Calm your mind

Your mind is used to running on autopilot. It thinks what it wants whenever it wants. Once you sit in a quiet space and the body is comfortable, your mind will just start throwing thoughts out there – but not anymore! Give your mind something to focus on that includes: I am statements and pastel colors.

You can imagine bringing the rainbow in one color at a time in pastels: pink, orange, yellow, green, blue purple. Bring each color in individually and slowly start at the top of your head and make your way gently and easily, through your body, down to your feet and into the Earth.

After each pastel color, repeat an “I am” statement such as one of the following.

I am peace.

I am free.

I am whole.

I am supported.

I am calm.

All is well.

Keep bringing in soft, pastel colors and “I am” statements until your timer goes off, letting you know you’ve done five minutes. Once your timer goes off, turn it off and then bring in the White Light again from the top of your head, through your body, down into your feet and into the Earth. Say, “All is well.” Then open your eyes when you’re ready. Check in. How do you feel?

Balance your energy through regular meditation

One of the keys to meditation is to actually clear and balance your energy every time. Then you will feel amazing and you’ll want to keep doing it. If you want to keep doing something that feels good, it can more easily become a routine. BUT if you keep doing the exact same meditation every day, without the energy work pieces, you’ll find you don’t feel any different and it could feel like a waste of time.

Meditation is one of the most powerful ways you can align and balance your energy. Once you find you can easily do five minutes and want more, keep increasing your timer by a minute or two until you hit fifteen minutes. Once you hit fifteen minutes, I would recommend splitting up your meditation into two times, once in the morning before you begin your day and once at the end of the day before you go to bed. Just don’t lay down – you’ll fall asleep every time!

Cheers to you creating a daily, energy healing meditation that supports you in 2022!

It IS Possible to Stay Present During the Holidays and Beyond

The holidays start in November and go full force until New Year’s Day. They are almost always a whirlwind, crazy time. You often find yourself exhausted and even sick wondering how it all flew by so quickly.

Seriously, how does it go by so fast?

Your holiday season is full of commitments, things you have to do, family stuff, and maybe a thing or two you actually would like to do. Work parties, friend parties, and family parties fill up every free block of time you have during December. There is rarely any downtime. It’s a lot of go-go-go and moving from one thing quickly onto the next.

While the holidays are often magical and filled with so many amazing memories, there is a lot of effort, time and energy that goes into making this time of the year so special for everyone around you.

What if this year instead of letting the holidays fly by you, you were more present, engaged and happy? Not only is it possible, it’s a game changer.

6 Tips to Stay Present During the Holidays

1. Pace Yourself.

Give yourself extra time to do tasks, errands, visits, travel, etc. There are more people out and about this time of year so it takes longer to do anything that you are leaving your house to do.

By the way, there is no such thing as a really fast trip to the store close to the holidays, so plan ahead as much as you can so you don’t have to make that extra trip out. Traffic is more congested, people are more irritable and things run out on the shelves. Plan ahead so you have less trips where you are running around to do errands.

2. Don’t Over Commit.

It’s so easy to say, “yes”. But there are only so many hours in the day. Don’t add on more activities than you have to or want to. The more things you say yes to, the less time you are going to have to bake those special cookies you said you wanted to make this year.

Your time is your most precious commodity.

The more you over commit, the more you will feel like this holiday season flies by because you will feel like you don’t have time to do the things you really want to do. By the way, we all know when you are somewhere you do not want to be.

Stop saying yes to things you don’t like and don’t have to do.

3. Do Things You Actually Want to Do.

Don’t forget, this is your holiday season too. You make it special for everyone else but make it special for yourself also. What are the things you always want to do but don’t have time for at the holidays? Put those on your calendar right now and don’t bump them for something else.

Say yes to things that you want to do and no to things you don’t. By saying no, you give yourself more time to do things that you will actually enjoy.

4. Have Fun!

Seriously, have fun. After all, you put so much time and energy into making this time of the year magical. What would be fun for you to do this year? Don’t just talk about it, actually make it happen and the best way to do that is to write it on your calendar.

5. Take Time for You.

Schedule in that self-care. A nap, meditation, yoga, a massage, a facial, a walk, a jog or whatever will support you best each day.

Self-care is key to helping you keep those holiday pounds off and irritability at bay. Listen to your body and prioritize taking care of it. No one wants to be sick around the holidays, even more so now. The better you feel, the happier you will be.

6. Be Energy Conscious.

You only have so much energy and feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or at your breaking point will not be helpful or fun for anyone around you.

Think of your energy like you do the energy on your cell phone. The more drama you around, the more you drain your battery. The more uplifting and fun things you do, the more you charge your battery.

Charge Your Energy and Stay Present During the Holidays

By implementing the steps above, you will charge your energy more this holiday season than normal. The holidays truly can be a magical time full of good memories. The more present you are, the slower time will go. What tip is the most important one for you to implement now before the holidays get started?

How Can You Transition from Stressed to Blissed

You’ve been together more than ever before in your relationship. The access to all your usual activities has been altered which means you’ve been stuck at home together and you’re noticing all the problems. Has the house gotten smaller? Have they always gotten on your nerves and pushed your buttons? What new hobbies can they take up? Or better yet, what can you do to get away? There is a new stress on your relationship that being together all the time has brought to the forefront and it’s not working.

Here’s the thing about relationship problems, they don’t disappear if you don’t fix them. They actually grow and often spiral out of control, creating new problems. To take the stress off your relationship, start by addressing the problems together with your partner.

3 Practices to Try!

Reduce the Stress in Your Relationship by trying the following:

1. Getting Clear

Get objective by going for a walk, doing a meditation, writing, or practicing yoga. What is at the root of the problems in your relationship right now? When did the problems start? How often are they appearing? What can you do to create a change and what can your partner do?

2. Talking to Your Partner

This is the thing you don’t want to do, but this is how you take the stress off your relationship and move forward. The key to successful communication is to be clear, honest and focused on your goal of healing the relationship problems. Have specific examples of what is bothering you and specific outcomes on what they can do to alleviate the problem. There will be compromise on both sides and commit to taking action on the things you both agree to do and talking to each other immediately when future problems arise.

3. Having More Fun

Schedule in more date nights, self-care, spontaneity and practice more gratitude. The better place you are in energetically, the better you’ll show up in your relationship. Stop hiding from the stress and problems in your relationship and heal it. Your home should be your happy place. Let’s get it there again! Take this time and have fun to shift from stressed to blissed.

How Do We Free Ourselves from the Hustle?

The hustle is encouraged. You are told to do more. And more. And more. This was a problem before everything shut down for the pandemic and it’s even more so now.

During the pandemic you had to take on even more roles at home and at work. The struggle was very real. You didn’t know how long you could keep on going at that pace. Something had to give. While most things have some semblance of how they were pre-pandemic, you still have more on your plate now than before the crisis began. Doing even more than you thought you could became your new normal.

Stop Trying to Do it All

Except there is nothing normal about doing more than you can handle. It is stressful and impacts everything in your life in a not so good way.

Is Bringing Work Home the New Normal?

One of the biggest problems from the pandemic is that your work and personal life lines blurred. While it seems great to be at home and not have to commute or dress to leave the house, you found yourself working more. It was easier to check emails more often, to work longer to get something done since you didn’t have to spend time driving, and you’re just more available since you didn’t have your work environment to signal you are at work. If you had kids at home, you found yourself adjusting your work schedule to support their school at home and that led you to some crazy work hours that are not sustainable.

Working from home is still looking like it is a new normal and it’s important to create some separation from your work in a way you haven’t had to do before.

The Hustle is Not Sustainable

The hustle is not sustainable, it is something that you can do in the short term. No one can do it all and not burn out or drop the ball often. It’s time to stop trying to do it all.

How to STOP Trying to Do it All: 5 Practices

1. Evaluate your Roles

The first thing to do is look at your life and see what roles you are still doing from the lockdowns that you no longer have to do. Sometimes we keep doing something out of habit, even if we no longer have to do it. Check and see what you can take off your plate. Who else can support you? What are the things you do not want to do anymore that someone else can do? Act like a CEO and only do the roles you have to do and want to do.

2. Create Boundaries

Create boundaries around your work time. Strong boundaries. If you need to get a separate cell phone from your work phone so you stop taking calls at all hours, do it. If you need a separate computer so you stop checking out chats and emails in your personal time, do it. Or if you have to put your work into a room with a door you can close and only open during business hours, do it. You are not a machine. You cannot work all the time. When it’s your personal time, do things that bring you joy, peace and balance – no work – at all. Have a strong boundary and stick with it, you will be happy you did.

3. Say, “No”

By taking on more tasks and activities than you can really do in a day, the person you hurt the most is yourself. Instead of just saying yes and doing what others ask of you, stop and ask yourself what you won’t have time to do because you took this on. Usually you lose sleep or fun things you really want to do.

Stop saying yes all the time without thinking and instead start saying, “No.” You don’t have to make up an excuse. You can simply say no and if necessary be honest about why you can’t take this on. People are understanding and if they aren’t, that’s more about them than it is about you. “No” allows you to stand in your power and do what is best for you. If you aren’t doing it for yourself, no one else can do it for you.

4. Have a Solid Daily Routine

The best way to keep yourself in balance is to create a solid routine that supports you. You can start your day with a quick and powerful meditation before you even get out of bed. Don’t check your phone, emails, or news until after you have gotten dressed (to leave the house), had breakfast and feel good about your day’s plan.

Work your normal work hours and take breaks and eat lunch without working through it. Stop over scheduling your work day. Plan in breaks and gaps for those last minute emergencies.

Get in a walk, yoga, exercise at a time that works for your body each day. Get enough sleep and eat foods that support you at scheduled times throughout the day. By creating a solid routine, you won’t have to think about what you have to do that day. You will have a plan in place that supports you.

5. Make Self-Care a Priority

When you are overwhelmed and exhausted the idea of self-care is not a possibility. You don’t have the time. You don’t have the energy. Yet this is exactly what you need more of – activities that breathe more life into you. On the airplane, they tell you to put your oxygen mask on before you help others. It’s the same here. The better place you are in mentally, physically, emotionally and energetically, the happier you will be.

Self-care can be simple like standing outside for a minute, taking a deep breath or getting enough sleep. It can be more complex like having a spa day, going on a hike, scheduling a vacation. The more self-care you can schedule in, the better you will feel. You are worthy. You are enough. Make yourself a priority and not an afterthought.

Create A Life You Love

You are actively creating your life in every moment. Just make sure you are creating a life you don’t have to escape from because when you do that, there aren’t enough vacations or days off. You are here to live a life you love. While you may have gotten stuck in the hustle and you were doing it all, that is not sustainable. Stop trying to do it all. Instead, what is it time for you to do differently today? Do it.
