One of the trends that Vedic Astrology reveals to us is the natural fluctuations of the energetic patterns of the world in which we live. Overall, the shifting focus and moving cycles are a constant reminder for us to stay grounded in the depth of our own practice, of our ability to connect to our own devotional anchor, and to trade an attachment with our individual predilections with something that is larger than our small self. This month is no exception.

November begins with the drama of a number of powerful planets in the intense energetic sign of Scorpio. The energetic pattern of the mid-month Full Moon supports our ability to cut through things; use this with a sense of compassion and cut through your obstacles and your own challenges. Stay focused. The month ends in a dark moon, the New Moon, whose placements at this time may heighten the natural feeling of ungroundedness that can happen during a New Moon. When this energy has increased, the remedy is to stay grounded in the routine of sadhana, or ongoing spiritual practice.

November 2-3

The Moon, Saturn, and Venus are in Scorpio making for a very dramatic start to the month. Your romantic relationships may be the source of a lot of stress now. Be careful of jealousy and other kinds of ungrounded projections. With this particular energetic combination, there is a lot of potential for devotion, but even more potential for drama and fearful outbursts. This is an opportune time to be a good friend to others and support them. Try to dial down the passions and the personal attachments.

November 6-7

The Moon and Mars are in Capricorn aspected by Jupiter, a combination that supports enthusiasm and desire to work hard. But you may also get into conflicts with others over long-term goals and principles. This aspect of Jupiter introduces God’s grace into the equation. Defend a higher purpose and choose your battles wisely.

November 8-9

The Moon is with Ketu in Aquarius; this is a combination that promotes a higher call to duty and service. We have all felt the pressure to stand for something higher in the world for the last several months. Align yourself with a higher purpose—especially today—and align yourself with other people in your life who share your values.

November 14

The Full Moon will be in Aries today. This Full Moon is opposite the Sun in Libra. This astrological axis is about the dynamics of individuality (Aries) and compromise (Libra). The Moon in Libra accentuates the cycle of compromise, and wanting to make sure those people in our life feel loved and cared for. First we must honor our own wishes, otherwise we feel mistreated. Be careful of overcompensating with angry outbursts as you try to reclaim lost territory. This is especially true as Mars (the ruler of Aries) is exalted and may be looking for a fight. ??This Full Moon will be in Krittika Nakshatra, an energetic pattern which has to do with a cutting, precise nature. Exercise discrimination combined with compassion today and utilize this energy in a positive manner; rather than cut another up with your words, cut out your own weaknesses.

November 16

The Sun will be in Scorpio for 30 days starting today. This Scorpio Sun cycle is a time to illuminate and face the emotional depth and confusion that we normally run away and hide from. This is an opportunity when the universe supports your ability to venture into those darker corners in your mind and psyche. Allow them to lead you to deeper levels of compassion and devotion. However, be careful of the tendency to romanticize the darkness. Indulgent Scorpio energy can lead to attachment to negativity, jealousy, and darker forces.

November 21-22

The Moon is joined with Rahu in Leo, supporting a large and dramatic sense of the expression of the individual self. You can use this as a force of good, or as energy to dominate others. Stay aligned with your purpose and vision and that focus may help you to go very far now. However, beware of worldly power plays and personal struggles with others. Be like the Sun and give your light to larger causes and in the spirit of service.

November 24-25

The Moon will join Jupiter in Virgo, allowing God’s grace to flow into our practices and daily routines. Virgo has been good for expanding our daily routine, habits, diet, and other regular practices. Now these practices become more integrated and emotional. Take your guru’s teachings deeply in your heart now.

November 29

The Sun and Moon join in Scorpio today, creating the new Moon in Scorpio. This New Moon day could feel pretty yucky (that’s a scientific term). When the moon is dark we feel emotionally disconnected and ungrounded. When the Moon is in Scorpio, we feel restless and fearful. Both are the case today. So begins this 30-day Scorpio cycle.

We will feel our deeper vulnerabilities and be challenged to strengthen them. Typically, we notice our painful attachments in Scorpio, and try to control situations as a result. Instead, we need to control ourselves, and our own emotions with more skill.

This New Moon is joined Saturn, which amplifies the fear and worry. We have seen this amplified fear and stress in world politics for the last couple of years. Our inner terror is high now, as is our inner terrorist.
This New Moon will be in Anuradha Nakshatra, which challenges us to greater levels of devotion, not control. Now is the time to take things less personally than usual. Attachment to personal desire could be very painful at this time.
