Sam Geppi forecasts Vedic Astrology September 2015
This month brings us a partial Solar Eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse, and the beginning of a Mercury Retrograde cycle. Some of this month’s astrological aspects have the potential to bring us greater fire and passion, yet the caution is to always find balance. In many cases, the remedies include connecting to our ability to express selfless love and service, performing acts of generosity, and to transform toxicity into devotion. Instead of destructive escape mechanisms, cultivate meditation and spiritual practice to “escape into reality.”
September 2-3
The Moon is in Aries aspected by combust Jupiter. Aries is a sign of fire, passion, and impatience. You may be ready to initiate new projects now, but be careful of feelings of irritability, especially with authority figures or those who disappoint you.
September 4-5
The exalted Moon is in Taurus, aspected by Saturn. Taurus is an earthy sign, which elevates the energy of the Moon and our expression of emotions. For the next couple of days find peace and contentment in the things you already have. The aspect from Saturn may encourage you to be more realistic, but be careful because it may also lead to you feeling more fatalistic.
September 9-10
The Moon joins Venus and debilitated Mars in Cancer, which is the Moon’s own home or sign, but the conjunction of Venus and a weak Mars may reveal frustrated desires and passive aggression. To remedy this, connect to the purity of the heart and your ability to experience selfless love. Activities that are important now can include taking care of animals and engaging in service, especially the feeding people.
September 12
There is a partial Solar Eclipse in the New Moon in Leo today. The Sun and Moon come together in Leo, initiating 30 days of personal power and integrity (at least that is what we hope emerges from this aspect). Leo is the sign of the king, the central power in our life, and the consistent vision we are trying to bring forth. This New Moon joins Jupiter, showing an inspired vision for our life, but one that may be hard to grasp or manifest materially. Aim high and be satisfied with what is realistic.
In this Solar Eclipse we are also facing themes of personal power and personal tyranny; be wary of the potential for power to both corrupt and isolate.
This New Moon occurs in Purva Phalguni Nakshatra, ruled by the God of delight, Bhaga. It is good to be king and to delight in our power. But, the power must be shared in order for our kingdom to sustain beyond our personal rule. Generosity is a key component of sustainability.
September 14 – 20
The Moon is joined or hemmed between the difficult planets Rahu and Saturn. This monthly transit has been occurring since last November; during this time we may feel personal pressure, relationship stress, worry, and confusion. In particular, be vigilant September 19 and 20, when the Moon (joined with Saturn) is in Scorpio (where it is debilitated). This could be a toxic mix, but there is also enormous energy to transform toxic emotions into devotion.
September 17- October 9
Mercury turns retrograde in Virgo. This will be an important time for unraveling the tangible fears of Virgo including excessive worrying about life’s details. This is especially true since Rahu has been in Virgo for the last year. Gaining mastery over the details that cause you worry is important now.
Mercury retrograde cycles support writing, journaling, and reflecting on our communication. One repercussion of that reflection can be seen in the classic Mercury retrograde problems with contracts, communication, and technology. Be prepared and clear up any of these issues and items in your life before September 17.
September 25-26
The Moon is in Aquarius, opposite Mars and Jupiter; this is an aspect that supports idealism and the humanitarian causes that ignite your personal passions. Be careful—there is the potential for conflict with authority figures who oppose your views. This is especially true because Saturn (who represents authority figures or teachers) is aspecting Mars now.
September 27 (in USA)
Today marks a Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Pisces, which is joined by Ketu (the South Node). This Full Moon is opposite the Sun in Virgo and carries the archetype of a mystical and creative mind and heart. This counterbalances the rational and sensible sign of Virgo. Eclipses polarize and throw things out of balance, so expect confusing extremes as you vacillate between feeling immersed in the problems and drudgery of this world and the desire to escape it all. How you escape is of primary importance while influenced by the energy of Pisces. We can escape from reality into drugs and other substances or escape INTO reality through meditation and spiritual practices.
This eclipse happens in Uttara Bhadra Nakshatra, ruled by the God Ahi Bhudnya, known as the “serpent of the deep.” This energy supports our ability to penetrate to the heart of life’s deeper mysteries.
