In June, a new cycle begins as the energy of the universe supports the study of spirituality. A longing for truth marks the New Moon while the Full Moon teaches us to harmonize the intellect and the heart. Toward the end of June, the beginning of a Mercury retrograde cycle indicates a good time for strengthening our inner communication and for writing.
June 1 – 3
June begins a yearlong cycle of Jupiter in Gemini which shows a shift toward an intellectual philosophy. We will notice a newfound interest in connecting the details of the world, language, and people with the highest purpose and meaning (Jupiter). During the previous 12 months, with Jupiter in Taurus, we were more connected to worldly forms and teachings. From now until June 2014 is a great time to study spirituality and spiritual systems such as Vedanta, astrology, numerology, and other sacred arts.
June 6 – 7
This is a time to connect to values, family and home, when the Moon joins Sun and Mars in Taurus. However, those connections may be filled with intensity, drama, and individuality, given the Mars connection. Rather than cutting and burning each other, plan to make a meal together. Put those knives and fire to good use.
June 8
A new cycle of family values and deeply held connections begin with the New Moon in Taurus. At this time, a need to stabilize and enjoy will dominate our thinking. The sacred quality of enjoying life is called “Santosha” in yoga, which roughly translates to “contentment.” Once there is contentment, “appreciation” is not far behind. These are the divine qualities of Taurus. Our capacity to appreciate what we have will be tested now, especially as this New Moon also joins Mars, the planet of restlessness and the strength to pursue our personal desire.
This New Moon happens in the Nakshatra of Mrigashira, which means “deer’s head.” There is a gentle restlessness and longing for truth now. This inner longing is mixed with the awareness of beauty already mentioned.
June 12
We may experience some heavy emotions, and the need to put up some painful boundaries as the Moon goes through Cancer and is aspected by Saturn. The Moon is the ruler of Cancer, which brings deep sensitivity and the desire to merge. Yet, Saturn shows the need for boundaries and to be more practical and realistic with others. This often creates the pain of separation.
June 15
This may be an emotionally frustrating day with the Moon in Leo aspected by Mars, the planet of courage and willfulness. Destroying what we perceive to be making us weak is the nature of Mars. Yet the Moon just wants love and connection. This feeling of cross-purposes may feel frustrating today. Don’t be afraid to look vulnerable or apologize if you make a mistake.
June 19-20
Here there is an emphasis on relationships with others and the need to compromise with them as the Moon passes through Libra. There is also a lot of emotional pressure and stress in these connections now, due to the presence of Saturn and Rahu. Be careful of jealousy and fearful projections. However, a gracious aspect from Jupiter brings hope and healing into the process.
June 23
Expect a hopeful and expanded heart, as the Moon will be full in Sagittarius this day. The ruler of Sagittarius, Jupiter, aspects from Gemini, adding to the feeling of hope and purpose. Also, Mars aspects from Taurus, bringing courage and discipline. The real lesson of this Full Moon is to harmonize the power of the intellect (Gemini) with the intuitive knowing only found in the heart.
This Full Moon happens in Mula Nakshatra, the section of sky where we uproot ignorance and plant the seeds of truth instead. Today, you must be willing to uproot your emotional story.
June 26
Mercury goes retrograde in Gemini, which shows a time for slowing down our thoughts and internalizing our communication. Mercury retrograde cycles are good for strengthening our inner dialogue and the voice in our head. Mercury will be retrograde until July 20. His retrograde cycle in the sign of Gemini is very auspicious, as he rules Gemini. This is also a good time for writing.
June 29 – 30
The month ends on a very mystical and creative note with the Moon in Pisces. Now is a time for deep philosophical inquiry and connecting to teachers and those things that inspire you in the highest sense. This is also a very romantic time, especially if you and your beloved share spiritual paths, or want to enjoy nature together.
