Hatha and Flow Yoga for Beginners with Tamal Dodge is an ideal DVD for those just beginning to practice or for experienced yogis looking to participate in a calm, back-to-basics Yoga lesson.
The DVD is divided into two half-hour segments, “Hatha” and “Flow,” making this video ideal for anyone looking to fit Yoga into their home life. The box set contains a strap to facilitate many of the movements in the sequences.
Tamal Dodge is both calming and helpful as a narrator as well graceful while demonstrating the practice. His directives are clear and his explanations of each pose are thoughtful and expressive. The setting is beautiful too; it is filmed on the Pacific Ocean in the sunlight. The combination found in Hatha and Flow Yoga for Beginners provides viewers with a way to take some time for oneself, to breathe, to see the ocean, and to heal.
The two programs are varied but equally beneficial. The Hatha section aims to relieve stress, increase flexibility, and boost circulation through stretching and static poses. The Flow portion moves swiftly through poses to build stamina, increase core strength, improve balance, and boost mental clarity and focus.
This DVD puts forward Tamal’s philosophy as a Yoga teacher, musician, and one of the founders of the Yoga Collective: Fostering a connection between body, mind, and spirit will create a healthier, happier and more fulfilled world.
