Sam Geppi, Vedic AstrologistVedic Astrology May 2015 by Sam Geppi

This month begins and ends with challenging energies influenced by Rahu and Saturn. The benefit of this aspect is that we can learn how to face our fears and negotiate our relationships. Throughout the upcoming weeks, it is important to stay grounded with practices of introspection, respect for teachers, and connections to loving relationships. Take the time to cut through the cords of illusion, repair what needs some TLC, and experience the grace within the heart.

May 1-6
The Moon will be joined or hemmed between the stressful energies of Rahu and Saturn now. This weeklong effect has been recurring for months and will continue through this year. At this time, our imagined fears and projections and the desire to control them (especially in romantic relationships) may be dominant themes. Try to remain grounded: Your introspection will be supported now, but it may be hard to come by.

May 3
The Moon will be full in Libra today. This Full Moon harmonizes the Aries cycle that began 15 days ago. This is a time of individual growth and self-expression. But today we feel the importance of harmonizing that individuality with compromise. Our individual goals are only meaningful if they are connected to those we love, both personally and culturally. Make adjustments and notice the reflection that comes back from others.

This Full Moon happens in Swati Nakshatra, related to Lord Hanuman, the monkey god. He was the general of the army of monkeys, a symbol that shows the power of the mind and prana (vitality) to be super-human forces.

May 9 – 10
The Moon is in Capricorn aspected by Saturn and Jupiter, which brings hope (Jupiter) and determination (Saturn) to our goals. Capricorn shows how external structure and security are necessary to give internal peace. But unfortunately we focus more on the external at the expense of the internal. As you make progress on your material goals, don’t neglect the inner silence and peace.

May 14 – 15
The Moon is in Pisces joined Ketu aspected by Jupiter. This could be a highly creative and mystical time, but it could also be a time of escapism and confusion. This is the eclipse point, so we may be revisiting themes related to recent changes and upheavals that occurred around the March 20, 2015, Solar Eclipse. However, this particular aspect of Jupiter will bring more guidance, grace, and teaching into these confusing moments.

May 17
The Sun and Moon will come together in Taurus today, emphasizing comfort, family, home, and other touchy-feely issues for the next 30 days. Now is a good time to gather energy, resources, and people together and go deeply into the value of those things. After the individualized Aries cycle last month, some of those things may be in need of repair, especially the human ones.

This New Moon will happen in Krittika Nakshatra, where the Moon is exalted and easily able to connect to deep inner peace and stillness. The word Krittika means “the cutter” and it shows where we need to cut through the illusions of emotion if we are to connect with the ocean of love in our heart.

May 18 – 19
The exalted Moon continues through Taurus where it is joined the Sun, Mars, and Mercury. There is enormous creative potential in this transit, especially as it relates to communication and creativity. The potential to bring your family and allies together around common, uplifting themes is ripe now. But you need to be careful about impatience or irritability with your speech, due to the Mars/Mercury conjunction.

May 22 – 24
The Moon will be in Cancer with exalted Jupiter now, reconnecting us to the highest teachings and wisdom. Now is a great time to be re-inspired by the great wisdom traditions. Honoring your teachers will feel natural as there is a flow of inspiration coming from them. This is also an excellent time for you to step up as a teacher and share the wisdom you have gathered. As always, remember to honor your teachers and evoke their blessings.

May 27 – 31
The Moon will be joined or hemmed between the same stressful energies of Rahu and Saturn, as it was at the beginning of the month. This long-term effect conditions us to face our fears and insecurities around personal relationships and involvements. Notice how calm and peaceful you were when it happened at the beginning of the month and settle in to be less triggered and more grounded this time.
