The cycles at play this October signify some emotional intensity. At the same time, we benefit by relaxing into the expansive nature of our own hearts and allowing ourselves to tap into our devotion to whatever is larger than our individual selves. Connect to your source of inspiration regularly.
Astrology October 2017
October 1 – 6
Mars and Venus will be in a close conjunction in Leo now. When Venus and Mars are closely joined, we can expect some conflict in our personal relationships. However, this configuration can also reveal the resolution—a reconciliation of contentious issues.
Since this takes place in Leo (a very individualized sign), there may be a bit more of the contentiousness (at least at first) before the conciliation. Be aware of your tendency to defend yourself as well as your sensitivity to feeling unappreciated.
October 5
The Moon is full in Pisces today. It is the halfway point of the previous New Moon cycle—which in this case took place in Virgo. This Full Moon ushers in feelings of surrender and peace which contrast the more worried and controlling aspects of Virgo.
We are always trying to harmonize our universal ability to trust in the big picture with our need to manage and organize all of the details in our lives. This aspect may inspire greater trust in your teachers. You may also feel an increased sense of expansion. Relax into the things that can only be perceived by connecting to the heart.
This Full Moon happens in Revati Nakshatra, which is the energy of the protective shepherd. You need only relax and trust universal wisdom and the divine mother will lead you home.
October 9-10
The Moon is exalted in Taurus and aspected by Saturn in Scorpio. This Moon in Taurus offers feelings of emotional peace and connection, as well as a bit of stubbornness. The aspect from Saturn in Scorpio reveals a deeper capacity for solitude and introspection.
Yet these are also good days for connecting with our families and digging deeply into our values in all their forms. In fact, this aspect from Saturn in Scorpio allows us to root out toxic patterns in order to improve our relations with others.
This aspect also leads us closer to more connected personal creativity.
October 13 – 14
The Moon is joined Rahu in Cancer, which signifies an almost obsessive focus on our emotions. This configuration also creates the need for us to go deeper than the surface in order to find peace.
You may notice a strong desire to merge with others today—as well as the potentially painful attachments that can result. The addictive qualities of feelings and emotions can surface now and make us aware of the times when any emotional connection feeds our souls.
While we are all emotional creatures, there are times when the drama of our emotions feel like riding a speedy and erratic roller coaster. The ride can be a distraction. This is why the “royal road” of managing our feelings and emotions is to devotion ourselves to something greater or higher. Ride those waves of emotional intensity straight to the source.
October 19
The New Moon is in Libra with Jupiter and Mercury. Today begins a 30-day cycle of Libra-related themes. These include sharing beauty, values and ideas while simultaneously compromising with others. Your own individual identity will feel less important for the next 30 days.
This New Moon is also joined Jupiter (the planet of hope) and Mercury (the planet of communication). For the next 30 days it will be important for you to accommodate others’ views, adjust accordingly, and even be inspired to find consensus and common ground.
However, as is always the case with Libra energy, we need to understand our own “no compromise zones” first. Otherwise our accommodation is just personal confusion in disguise, often with a vicious backlash later.
This New Moon happens in Chitra nakshatra, which is ruled by the archetype of the celestial architect. This Nakshatra in Libra shows where we are interested in building smooth relationships with others.
October 22 – 23
The Moon is joined Saturn in Scorpio. This heralds a couple days of intense feelings and perhaps even some paranoia. Be cautious about giving into your fears and succumbing to situations or people that you can’t control.
Instead, go deep into your heart, in the direction of greater self-control and self-mastery. Enormous stillness and peace are possible now, but only if you can summon the courage to break through the icy surface around the heart.
October 26
Beginning today, Saturn returns to Sagittarius for the next two years. A new cycle of hope and dedication to higher purposes and larger causes will emerge in this cycle. This may take the form of a cultural/political renaissance and/or a personal, spiritual renaissance.
It also stimulates us to refocus our duties and commitments. This significant long-term shift allows us to be motivated by what inspires us, rather than being driven by what we fear.
