In the corner of the new Sender One climbing gym, a Yoga studio exudes a feeling of tranquility and calm. You could hardly guess that just outside the doors there are people pulling hard on the rock walls, pushing themselves to their physical limits. Sender One is owned by Chris Sharma, one of the strongest and most widely recognized climbers in the world, and he knew from the beginning that including a yoga studio was essential. “We wanted to offer a state-of-the-art facility of Yoga, Climbing, and Fitness.” Chris grew up with yoga and knows the balance yoga brings to a gym and to a hectic life. “You have all this commotion going on, but then it’s so peaceful in there.”
Nicola Strother, the Sender One Fitness Coordinator, understands the uniqueness of each person’s practice. “Every instructor will give you the most basic modification and a higher modification, depending on where you are.” Before the studio opened, Nicola invited prAna cofounder and owner Pam Theodosakis to add the prAna touch, including props and products as well as a large and impressive photo of Shiva Rea.
Sender One offers different types of all-levels power and flow-based classes. As a whole, the studio’s aesthetically pleasing environment is created by tall, colorful climbing walls with streaks of LED lights, adding a fun, modern vibe.
Sender One offers a creative space for yogis to practice on the mat or the wall.
