Create A Better World: One Village At A Time

Help A Life Foundation: Project Blue

One village at a time” is the tagline for Help a Life Foundation’s efforts to create a better world. They’ve begun in Ethiopia, one of the planet’s poorest countries with what is estimated to be the world’s largest populations of orphaned children, the result of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria. The Foundation is partnering with local Ethiopia-based organizations like the Anti Malaria Association (AMA) to launch Project Blue, their first program created to elevate the lives of orphan children in Ethiopia with the overarching goal to uplift the entire country.

The mission of Project Blue is to provide orphan girls with a home life, an educational tool belt which they can use to teach other children and the social skills to reenter the Ethiopian society as productive and self-confident citizens. These young people then give back, continuing the elevation of society through furthering their education, volunteering and standing as an example of hope and leadership for their peers.

With goals to build four group houses in Ethiopia, Help a Life is well on its way after having acquired twenty-five acres of land in Debre Markos (a sizeable town of 70,000 residents and home to AMA) as a grant from Ethiopian Government. The development will consist of group houses and a community center. Providing new opportunities for life, an increased focus on the importance of education with a decrease in female dropout rates, Project Blue is set to be an example of hope for the poverty-stricken country.

Los Angeles-based fashion designer Marco G (Marco Guzzardo; marco-g.com) is one of the supporters of this project and has been involved in Ethiopia and in several fundraising events the organization has hosted in Los Angeles. From the local (both in LA and Ethiopia) to the global, Help a Life Foundation is serving One village at a time.
