Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh USA Inc. (HSS), Los Angeles, with the support of many other Dharmic organizations, will host “Dharma and Yoga Fest” on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm at Excelsior High School ground in Norwalk CA. The Dharma and Yoga Fest will conclude the yearlong commemoration by HSS of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary in 2013 and his vision of “Universal Peace Through Dharma and Yoga. In addition to the Norwalk event, HSS will host Dharma and Yoga Fest at over thirty locations nationwide.

Dharma and Yoga Fest will be a unique event where Dharmic followers of all traditions will come together and celebrate. It will showcase Bhakt?, Jñ?na, Karma, and R?ja Yoga as practiced in the local community. To bring practitioners together at Dharma and Yoga Fest, HSS is partnering with over forty local Dharma and Yoga organizations.

Dharma and Yoga Fest will feature demonstrations, discussions, and teachings from all Yoga paths, including Kirtan and Bhajan sessions (Bhakt? Yoga stage), seminars on Dharma (Jñ?na Yoga stage) and service activities (Karma Yoga booths), and Hatha Yoga demonstrations (R?ja Yoga stage). A separate stage at the event is dedicated towards fun yet value-based activities for children that will continue throughout the day.

Prominent Yoga studios and professional Kirtan groups are among the participants. Food, exhibitions, as well as attractive displays from vendors can be found in the booths. Detailed and in-depth information about the spiritual path followed by participating organizations will also be available at their respective booths.

HSS has conducted other events in 2013 as part of its observance of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary, including the first ever DharmaBee™, a nationwide quiz competition for school children, and a traveling exhibit on Swami Vivekananda’s life visiting major University campuses. Dharma and Yoga Fest marks the 120th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s groundbreaking address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893.

HSS conducts a structured values education program through its 150 branches nationwide to develop strong character and teamwork and leadership skills and to organize a dynamic and flourishing Hindu-American community. For more information, visit www.hssus.org.
