Donna De Lory uplifts in her latest album Live from Kula Space.
“Playing music is my yoga, it’s my bliss. When I play, I get lost in the music, my mind stops, I am in the moment, and I am free. This is a place I never want to leave.” This quote from acclaimed singer Donna De Lory illustrates the energy captured on her new album Live from Kula Space. The 14-song collection (recorded in the intimate private studio Kula Space) gives the listener a sense of being in the room during one of De Lory’s soaring live shows, complete with uplifting soul jams, mantras, and songs bathed in authentic source connection.
The creative arrangements are the cornerstone of this collection, which features many of her beloved recordings: “Hey Ma Durga,” “Be The Change,” “Ganapati Om,” “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu,” “Om Nama Shivaya,” and “My Sweet Lord,” among others. The songs work so well in a live environment which provides a foundation for expansion. For instance, this live version “My Sweet Lord,” (from her recent studio album, The Unchanging), rises to new heights, climaxing with a joyful, kirtanesque, sing-along session of spirit.

De Lory surrounds herself with high-level players; her talented band weaves the musical fabric of a bhakti groove drizzled with pop sensibilities while simultaneously dipping in and out of a multitude of genres, rhythms, and energies.
