June is one of the gentler months we’ve had in quite some time.

This is a great time to exhale, with both Venus and Mercury in their own signs. The Vedic Astrology of this month concludes with a beautiful Full Moon in Sagittarius, inviting us to gaze upward at what is possible.

June 4

There is a New Moon in Taurus with Venus. This begins a 30-day cycle of family connections and feeling deeper into the roots of our life. This could be a very auspicious month, considering that the Moon is exalted here and Venus is the ruler of Taurus. But Taurus is also a sign of stubbornness and clannish behavior and can exacerbate the behavior when we resist change and transformation in order to remain comfortable.

Overall, the aspects of June suggest a good month for business partnerships, weddings, and other get-togethers. However, be careful not to over-indulge.

This New Moon happens in Rohini Nakshatra, the star of pleasure and creativity. Seek a purpose higher than personal pleasure: Seek contentment.

June 8

Mercury enters Taurus, which shows a time of skill and communication oriented toward your personal pleasure. On a higher note, this is a good time to have a sit-down with family members or other close ones in order to untangle any entrenched patterns; expect this to be a significant theme until June 27, when Mercury enters Gemini.

June 10 and 11

The Moon is in Leo with Jupiter and Rahu, revealing eccentric teachings and philosophies. Be on the lookout for an unusual teacher or life lesson, and don’t take things at face value. Be careful not to be seduced by novelty and demagoguery, but be prepared to find enormous inspiration in the most surprising, mystical place.

June 15

The Sun enters Gemini where he will be for the next 30 days. This aspect shifts the importance away from practicality and structure (Taurus) and toward communication and developing new skills. For the next 30 days, be on the lookout for situations that challenge the status quo. Rather than fall back on the same old beliefs, develop your beginner’s mind and see where it takes you.

June 17

Mars goes retrograde back into Libra. Mars has been in Scorpio since the end of February and now returns to Libra, the sign of relationships and compromise. Of course, this will insert intensity and passion into all relationships, romantic or otherwise. The challenge here is to harmonize your personal opinions and principles with others. You may be more and more cranky about that necessary compromise until Mars returns to Scorpio on July 11.

June 18 and 19

The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio and joined with Mars and Saturn. This conjunction has been happening for months. So by now we should be expert at handling this Scorpio/Moon energy. At this time you must go more deeply than the emotional waves on the surface. If you are incapable of such depth, the emotional turbulence will disturb you greatly. Service, sacrifice, discipline and compassion will take you far now. Be a good friend for another rather than wallowing in your own emotional dramas.

June 20

There is a Full Moon in Sagittarius today. This Full Moon harmonizes the energy of the sun sign, in this case Gemini, an energy that encourages us to try new things and test different beliefs. Now is also a great time to connect this new information with the wisdom you have already gathered. This wisdom is related to Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius. The Full Moon in Sagittarius is an auspicious time to worship your guru.

This Full Moon happens in Mula Nakshatra, related to the goddess Kali, the goddess of destruction. Now is the time to destroy the trivial or illusory information that we have a tendency to gather when under the influence of the Sun in Gemini. Practice discernment and only keep what serves you and supports your path to wisdom.

June 23

The Moon is in Capricorn aspected by both Saturn and Mars. The Moon in Capricorn is related to the energy of solitude; this can either bring feelings of peace—or loneliness and stress. With the double aspect of Mars and Saturn, these possibilities are magnified and mixed together. You may need to consciously develop greater peace and solitude now, to overcome the feelings of loneliness and frustration.

June 25 and 26

Moon is in Aquarius joined Ketu (the South Node of the Moon). Your inner critic may be active now so be aware of the haunting voice. If you are feeling unworthy of love and nurturing from others, share your feelings with a friend, then step up in service to something or someone higher. These are powerful principles related to Aquarius.

June 27

Mercury enters Gemini, his own sign for the next several weeks. This is a time of increased intelligence, communication, flexibility, and humor. Take a class—or teach one! Spend time in your social circle. According to Vedic Astrology, this is also a good time to improve your communication systems in business.
